Treatment Overview
Augmentation mastopexy combines breast lift (mastopexy) and breast enhancement (augmentation) in a single procedure to help improve the size, shape, and position of the breasts. This treatment is ideal if you are seeking to correct sagging breasts (ptosis) while adding volume for a fuller, more youthful appearance. Commonly performed after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or due to natural ageing, augmentation mastopexy restores upper pole fullness and symmetry, addressing loss of elasticity and volume.
About Augmentation Mastoplexy
Augmentation mastopexy is a comprehensive procedure designed to enhance breast size, restore shape, and elevate the position of sagging breasts. Surgery can be transformative, combining two procedures into one to help you achieve a fuller, lifted, and more youthful appearance with a single recovery period. This procedure may be performed in a single stage or two stages, depending on your breast dimensions, aims and expected results
At the same time as your breasts are being increased in size, the soft tissue envelope around your breasts is being tightened, and the nipple areolar complex is being repositioned more superiorly.
3D Vectra images are used to simulate your post-operative result. These do not guarantee a result but provide a guide as to the results you may expect.
Mr. Wilson assists in selecting the appropriate implant (silicone or B-Lite) and shape (round or anatomical). Implants are placed either beneath the breast tissue (sub-glandular), under the fascia (sub-fascial), or partially beneath the chest muscle (dual plane), based on your anatomy and desired outcomes. Upon completion of the procedure, any excess skin is removed, and the breast tissue is reshaped to achieve a firmer, elevated contour. Additionally, the nipple and areola are relocated to a position that is anatomically suitable.
This surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and typically lasts 3-4 hours. The surgeon employs advanced techniques to achieve results with minimal scarring. The procedure involves making incisions on the breasts, which vary based on the degree of sagging and desired augmentation. A peri-areolar (donut) incision encircles the areola (the dark area of skin around the nipple) and is suitable for individuals with mild sagging. A vertical (lollipop) incision goes around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease for those with moderate sagging. For significant sagging, an anchor (inverted-T) incision is used, which goes around the areola, vertically down, and then along the breast crease.
Benefits
Your augmentation mastopexy procedure will be customised to suit your anatomy, lifestyle, and desired result. During the consultation, Mr Wilson will evaluate factors such as breast size, degree of sagging, skin elasticity, and chest proportions. He takes time to understand your aesthetic vision, guiding you in selecting the ideal implant size, type, and placement for a natural look. This personalised approach ensures your results align with your body, as well as enhancing your confidence. Benefits from this combined procedure can have numerous physical and emotional benefits, including:
Post-Operative Recovery
Immediately after surgery you are likely to experience swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort which is managed with pain relieving medication. A supportive surgical bra is suggested to reduce swelling and support healing. Before you are discharged, you will be given aftercare advice and guidance.
At 1-2 weeks post-surgery swelling will start to ease, and you may feel comfortable enough to resume light activities. You will still be advised to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise at this stage. Your first follow-up appointment will be arranged, with further appointments taking place at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months after the procedure. At 4-6 weeks, Mr Wilson will guide your return to normal physical activities, including exercise. Although much of your healing will have occurred, the breasts will continue to settle into their final shape and scars will begin to fade. The final results become apparent at 3-6 months post-surgery. As swelling resolves, you can enjoy firmer, fuller, and lifted breasts, with scars fading further over time.

FAQ
Augmentation mastopexy is generally safe when performed by a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon like Mr Paul Wilson. While all surgeries carry some risks, including infection, scarring, or changes in sensation, Mr Wilson uses advanced techniques and adheres to the highest safety standards to minimise complications. The procedure is conducted in accredited facilities under general anaesthesia, ensuring patient safety. Thorough preoperative evaluations and personalised care plans further reduce risks. Patients also receive detailed aftercare instructions to support a smooth recovery. With proper care and an experienced plastic surgeon, augmentation mastopexy provides safe and satisfying results.
The results of augmentation mastopexy are long-lasting but not immune to natural changes. The procedure provides a lifted, fuller breast shape and position that can last many years. However, factors such as aging, gravity, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and hormonal changes may impact the breasts over time. Additionally, breast implants typically last 10-20 years, but they are not lifetime devices and patients may require replacement or revision surgery over time due to factors like implant wear, changes in breast tissue, or personal preferences. Choosing appropriate implants and following post-operative care advice can help maintain results for longer. Mr Wilson ensures patients understand what to expect and provides personalised guidance to preserve the aesthetic outcome. Many patients enjoy their results for a decade or more before considering further adjustments.
After augmentation mastopexy, patients should follow specific aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing. A supportive surgical bra must be worn as directed to minimise swelling and maintain breast shape. Strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks. Keep incisions clean and dry to reduce infection risk, and use prescribed or recommended scar treatments to minimize scarring. Regular follow-ups with Mr Wilson allow him to monitor healing and address concerns. Proper aftercare not only promotes a smooth recovery but also helps maintain long-lasting, beautiful results.
Most patients can resume driving around 1-2 weeks after augmentation mastopexy, depending on their recovery progress. Before driving, you should be free from prescription pain medications and regain full mobility in your arms and chest to ensure safe manoeuvring of the steering wheel. Mr Wilson provides individualised recommendations during follow-ups, considering each patient’s healing and comfort level. Prioritising rest and following recovery guidelines ensures a safe return to everyday activities, including driving, without compromising your results or healing process.
Patients are typically advised to wear a supportive surgical bra for at least 6 weeks after augmentation mastopexy. This specialised bra helps minimise swelling, supports the healing process, and maintains the new breast shape. Mr Wilson provides specific recommendations tailored to your recovery progress. After this period, patients can transition to a soft, non-underwired bra as advised. Consistently wearing the recommended bra ensures optimal healing and enhances the longevity of your results. Mr Wilson will guide you on when it’s appropriate to return to regular bras or lingerie.
